Sutter plans medical office building to support new residency program at Roseville hospital

Sutter Health is planning a new medical office building at its Roseville, CA, hospital campus to house its new residency program.

According to a permit application filed with the Roseville Planning Division, the four-story building would be constructed at the northeast edge of the Sutter Roseville Medical Center campus.

Sutter is also in the process of obtaining permits to expand a parking garage adjacent to the building.

Sarah Bergman, project manager with Dreyfuss + Blackford Architecture, the architecture firm on the project, said construction on the two projects will be coordinated.

“The expansion of the parking garage is necessary to gain enough parking to support the new MOB,” she said.

The parking garage expansion will significantly expand the footprint of the existing five-story garage. The expansion will be six stories and have around 560 parking stalls. The parking garage will break ground first, targeted at late summer or early fall, and the building is targeted to open in 2024.

Bergman declined to disclose the cost of the project.

In an email, Sutter spokesperson Gary Zavoral said the building will be used for Sutter’s new graduate medical education physician training residency and fellowship programs.

It will house the program’s administrative offices, classrooms, conference space for didactics and lectures, a simulation center, and an internal medicine continuity clinic.

About 2 1/2 floors of the building will also house outpatient health care clinic space for Sutter Medical Foundation physicians and staff.
