Position Summary

Provides overall project management responsibilities for a variety of projects or project teams, while maintaining a strong hands-on technical foundation. The role includes client contact, team building and project staffing, scheduling, financial management, and direct oversight of technical execution.

Major Duties & Responsibilities

Works independently, exercising discretion and sound judgment while collaborating with firm leadership to deliver complete, coordinated, and cohesive project outcomes. Successfully manages multiple medium- to large-scale projects simultaneously, directing internal staff and external consultants through all phases of design and construction. Oversees project scope, schedule, staffing, and financial performance; coordinates resources with fellow Project Managers and senior leadership; and presents project progress to clients at key milestones for review and approval.

Partners with the Design Director to guide the development of studies, programming, reports, designs, visualizations, models, drawings, and specifications, while ensuring technical quality, building code compliance, consultant coordination, and seamless execution through permitting, bidding, and construction administration.

Supervisory Responsibilities

Directly supervises teams of 2–8 employees, as well as project consultants, providing leadership throughout the duration of each project. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with firm policies, contributes to employee performance evaluations, and proactively addresses project-related issues, resolving conflicts and challenges to maintain project objectives, team alignment, and client satisfaction.

Minimum Qualifications & Characteristics

A professional degree in Architecture or a related field is preferred, and a first professional degree in Architecture with active California architectural licensure is highly desirable. Requires 8+ years of professional experience managing medium- to large-scale projects from design through construction, along with strong knowledge in architectural design, technical detailing, consultant coordination, and code compliance.

Demonstrates excellent written, verbal, and presentation skills, with the ability to effectively communicate with clients, regulatory agencies, and the broader community. Proven ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment while demonstrating initiative, accountability, flexibility, leadership, and strong team-building skills. Proficiency in Revit and working knowledge of BIM processes is required; working knowledge of Rhino and Grasshopper is desirable.
